Club Staff with Club MemberFull Time:

Position: Director of Federal Programs

Description: The Director of Federal Programs is responsible for the day-to-day operations associated with a State AmeriCorps program, as well as researching and reviewing other federal grant opportunities, writing federal grant proposals, and coordinating the implementation of funded programs.

Requirements: A minimum of three years experience in the nonprofit sector is required, with previous experience in grant writing and program management. Candidate must have a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university (advanced degree preferred), and excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as working knowledge of MS Office and web-based reporting systems. Occasional evenings and weekends, along with light travel, are necessary.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include supervision of children in an elementary setting, leading special group activities, assisting with homework, and the ability to follow educational programming curriculum.

Hours: Monday through Friday, 3-6 p.m.

Hourly Rate: $8-10/hour, depending on experience

AmeriCorps:

Description: Members will be placed at Boys & Girls Clubs or other youth service agencies located in distressed communities throughout Indianapolis. Members will work with youth to provide programs and activities during after school hours and summer. One key component of the program will be for members to lead youth through planning and implementing 15-20 hours per week - typically between the hours of 3-7 p.m. In the summer, members will provide programming during summer hours - typically 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Members will work a total of 900 hours between early September 2010 and early August 2011.

Requirements: Applicants must be at least 17 years old, and a legal resident (with permission to work) of the United States.

Hours: AmeriCorps members will work during after school hours for approximately 15 hours per week. During the summer, members will work approximately 35 hours per week.

Pay: AmeriCorps members will earn a living stipend of up to $5,850 (less taxes, paid in bi-weekly installments). Upon completion, members are eligible to receive an Education Award of $2,360 (less taxes).

Position: AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator

Manage volunteer recruitment, screening, training and program activities for Club volunteers. Monitor volunteer programs and coordinate volunteer activities in Clubs under the direct supervision and direction of the Director of Marketing & Public Relations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Establish and implement policies and procedures for volunteer recruitment, selection, training and participation in activities throughout Club facilities in conjunction with Club staff.
• Identify potential sources of volunteers and develop proactive strategies to recruit volunteers with the skills needed by Club programs and activities in conjunction with Club staff.
• Conduct evaluation of volunteer activities and participation, refining selection and training activities to ensure a high level of satisfaction by volunteers and staff in conjunction with Club staff.
• Develop and implement regular orientation of volunteers and provide training to BGC staff on effective volunteer management in conjunction with Club staff.
• Develop collaborative relationships with other organizations, supporting volunteerism or serving as potential sources for Club volunteers.
• Act as liaison with neighborhood and community groups to enhance Club and community relations in conjunction with Club staff.
• Attend all AmeriCorps sponsored trainings, staff meetings and events.
• Ensuring the spread of AmeriCorps vision and visibility by wearing AmeriCorps gear during all service activities.
• Following all AmeriCorps and assigned site Policies and Procedures.
• And other duties as assigned.

This position is a 675-hour AmeriCorps position with a living stipend. Upon completion of the 675-hour requirement, the student will receive an educational award. Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply.
