Homework

Power Hour: Making Minutes Count

A comprehensive homework help and tutoring program, Power Hour is designed to raise academic proficiency of Club members ages 6-18.  Power Hour provides members with the support, resources and guidance necessary to complete their homework - and start the day with a sense of confidence and ability.  As members complete homework assignments and bonus activities, they accumulate Power Points, which may be used to obtain Power Rewards - prizes, activities and incentives.

Goals for Graduation

This program introduces academic goal setting to Club members ages 6-15 by linking their future aspirations with concrete actions today.  In a variety of one-on-one, small-group and large-group sessions with Club staff, members set achievable "Know-I-Can" Goals, more challenging "Think-I-Can" Goals and yearly "Believe-I-Can" Goals.  Members create an action plan with daily and weekly goals leading to short- and long-term academic gains.  A comprehensive guidance strategy helps members connect their smallest results to their highest dreams.

The Ultimate Journey

An environmental education program that leads Club members ages 6-12 on a fun-filled journey into the world of plants and animals.  Through small group participation in games, crafts and discovery-based activities, young people develop an awareness of the environment, acquire a better understanding of how human actions affect nature, reinforce math and science skills and learn about conservation of our natural resources.

Homework HelpDragonfly Quest

Dragonfly Quest shows Club members ages 10-15 how to conduct their own investigations using the scientific method.  The program provides stategies, tips and resources to help facilitators introduce the scientific method to members.  Dragonfly Quest builds members' skills in science, math and language arts and helps members think critically about the world around them as they explore topics that appeal to them.


CareerLaunch

CareerLaunch encourages Club members ages 13-18 to assess their skills and interests, explore careers, make sound educational decisions and prepare to join our nation's everchanging work force.

JOB READY!

JOB READY! prepares Club members ages 16-18 with specific skills to secure employment and be successful in the world of work.  Teens learn how to identify job opportunities, write effective resumes, perform well in interviews, dress appropriately, develop good work habits and get along well with others in the workplace.

Junior Staff Career Development

Junior Staff is a comprehensive, small-group program that assists Club members ages 11-18 in exploring a career in youth or human services, particularly Boys & Girls Club work.  Through hands-on experiences with helping others in the Club and community, field trips to other service organizations, and one-on-one guidance from Club staff, youth prepare for futures roles as human services professionals or volunteer leaders in their communities.

Skill Tech

This program develops Club members' proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and other productivity software through fun, hands-on, engaging lessons and projects.

Computer Lab

Skill Tech II

This program teaches advanced and practical technology skills to Club members using animated, spy-themed interactive tutorials.  Skill Tech II introduces members to hardware identification and installation, networking and technology-related careers.

Money Matters: Make It Count

Money Matters promotes financial responsibility and independence among Club members ages 13-18 by building their basic money management skills.  Participants learn how to manage a checking account, budget, save and invest.  They also learn about starting small businesses and paying for college.

Achievement Matters

A formal recognition program, Achievement Matters inspires Club members to excel in both their academics and character and leadership development.  Through goal setting and achievement markers, the Club rewards the efforts of the members when they reach their goals by giving out awards.
