Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis to Provide Mentoring in Underserved Communities

INDIANAPOLIS, IN, January 31, 2012 – As National Mentoring Month winds down, Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis is excited to announce an increase in mentoring services provided. These new services will add close to 15 new mentors at each of BGCI’s four unit based locations.

As education gaps widen in this country BGCI is committed to providing educational resources to those in need. BGCI has adopted the BGCA National Mentoring Model and has begun implanting that within its Clubs. This mentoring program should allow for those students in need to obtain extra help in the school subjects they struggle with the most.

“Programs like this provide an opportunity for BGCI to continue to enrich the minds of the youth we serve,” states Rick Whitten, Executive Director of BGCI. “When you serve over 8,800 kids each year it’s important to develop new learning models and introduce each youth to as many educational resources as possible.”

This program will not only enrich the lives of the youth we serve but also of those mentors who really make this program run.
